Our Oxidation Ovens are used to thermally stabilize Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers and to convert them into Oxidized PAN.

The precursor fibers are taken from a spool or out of a box and are conveyed through the multi-stage oxidation process in the form of a tow band. After the oxidation, the fibers are sized and collected. Oxidized PAN fibers can be used in continuous form or as chopped or milled fibers, which requires another process step.

There is a variety of applications for Oxidized PAN ranging from airplane cabin interiors, automotive thermal or acoustic insulation, fire resistant textiles to battery and energy storage applications.

We offer three types of airflow systems for our Oxidation Ovens:

  • Center-to-End (CTE)
  • End-to-End (E2E)
  • Vertical Down (VD)

All Oxidation Ovens are available with electric heating or highly efficient natural gas heat exchangers.

Hybrid Heat solutions integrate both heating sources, which is extremely useful for short campaign turnarounds and to utilize the lowest energy rate available.
